Rahuu comes from rahu, the Estonian word for peace. I chose it because that is what handcraft gives me. Knitting and crocheting cannot be rushed: they ask you to slow down, to let your thoughts wander, and to enjoy each small stitch as it comes. Somewhere between the yarn and the needles, the day gets quieter.
That is the feeling I want to pass on. Every Rahuu piece, whether a pair of felted wool slippers or a soft beanie, is 100% handmade and made with heart, so that the person wearing it would also take a moment to stop, breathe and simply be.
With every piece I make, I think of the person who will wear it, and even if our paths never cross, I send them good wishes. I imagine the warmth it will bring and the quiet moments it will share, at home on a slow morning, on the cool floors of a summer cottage, or on a chilly evening out sailing.
If you have a warm knitting dream of your own waiting to come alive, I will gladly make it for you.
